5.0 out of 5 stars A Tragic Story, A Devastating Read, 26 Mar 2002
By A Customer
I didn't believe the glowing reviews I'd read. No book could be that good,I thought. But after reading it myself I literally couldn't put it down and read it in one go over twelve hours. It certainly is compulsive reading. Mr Skelly is a brilliant writer. He has passionately exposed a terrible injustice perpetrated in our name - even though it was 50 years ago. His indignation at this travesty of justice runs indelibly through every page but never lapses into sentimentality - even when describing the chilling execution scenes. What a story and what a storyteller! Rarely have I read a book that made me angry, that made me laugh and made me cry - all at the same time. If capital punishment wasn't already dead this book alone would have ensured its abolition. An unforgettable book and a great writer. I too can't wait to see the Movie!!
