'Glasgow: Then and Now' is a good place to start if you are interested in learning more about Glasgow and its cultural history. The book follows the pattern of showing an old picture of a place on the left page and on the right page what it looks like now. This is very interesting and it is quite enjoyable to go through the pictures comparing now and then.

The only slight drawback was that the modern pictures weren't actually from 'now', they were from the late 1980s and so I got the feeling I wasn't really comparing Glasgow then with Glasgow now. Perhaps in this edition the pictures have been updated but I haven't seen any indication of that.

This book remains a good introduction to Glasgow and its wonderful past.
