Product Description
Book Description
"No one likes us!" the Millwall fans sing - and with good reason. Colin Johnson is a young white male casual who follows Millwall FC home and away. Read his story of the ups and downs of following the Lions over ten seasons.

From the Publisher
Terrace Banter was launched in October, 1998, as a football imprint of S.T. Publishing. Over the past decade football as a spectator sport has changed beyond all recognition, particularly for the ordinary fan. A great deal of working class culture and tradition is being cast to one side so that football can appeal to a new market, that of the "soccer fan". Through Terrace Banter we hope to put down in print the experiences of the ordinary fan before they are lost forever in a sea of plastic seats and replica strips. Unless we document our own history, it is left to outsiders and the mass media to be judge and jury. This book is primarily about Millwall, but it is also about growing up on the terraces. If you have an interest in football hooliganism or working class culture in general, I'm sure you'll enjoy We Fear No Foe - A Decade Of Following Millwall!

4.0 out of 5 stars A must for lions fans, 3 Nov 2000
By A Customer
I think this book was a good read and just goes over things that most of us wall fans have seen and done before. Its not just fighting all the time & he talks about the atmosphere that goes along with following Millwall. However, one gripe is that I reckon he was way out of order slating those who turned up at Wembley face painted etc, and who dont go to the den reguarly. Many fans cant afford to go, like me old man who has 3 kids to support and bills to pay. Saying that though this book is a must for all wall fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, 3 April 2000
Despite not being able to relate to the book, due to my age and my involvement with a non-league team, it engrossed me entirely. The author's point on the press's habit of only focusing on violence when it involves Milwall, is something that they should be ashamed of and why do they seem to blow it out of proportion? Other countries such as Holland (Feyenoord in particular) have a much worse problem than we do, yet we here nothing about it. Strange isn't it that the press are almost glamorising something that they supposedly condone. One of the best books I have read on football full stop. A must buy for any football fan and also anyone that doesn't like the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars best football book of the year?, 22 Dec 1999
By A Customer
I know the prize givers won't agree with me, but this has to be one of the best football books of the year. I was expecting a Millwall hooligan book, and you do get a bit of that, but in truth the author represents the vast majority of every day fans with so much of what he has to say. I really loved it from start to finish. Hornby's Fever Pitch struck a chord with the new breed of football fan. Well, here's the book the rest of us have been waiting for. Colin Johnson, I salute you, sir!
