Chris Stewart, skilled sheep-shearer and sometime Genesis drummer, took one look at the Alpujarr´s, the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, and decided that's where he wanted to be. This is the story of his adventures coming to terms with the terrain, the lifestyle and, of course, the locals, who possess all the rugged, homespun charm you'd expect. I tried to read the book as slowly as possible and savour each word as I just didn't want to get to the end. Dragging the consciousness back into commuting across a grey London was hard going for a few days. Looking forward to the sequel.

I read this book whilst on holiday in Northern Italy and couldn't put it down. I had no idea that goats could break wind and belch simultaneously! I can't wait to hear his next installment of life as a stranger in a strange land. Easy reading and highly recommended.

This is clearly a dangerous and subversive piece of literature for young career people. My first instincts were to put the book down, ask for early retirement and head out to the wonderfully world of of Chris Stewert in beautiful Andalusia.
