5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating!, 17 Nov 2007
I am currently reading this book in Hungarian translation; I am enjoying it so much that I decided to order it in English as a gift to my family (who don't speak Hungarian). It's a fascinating account on how the nobility lived in Hungary in the 1860s, village customs, and how a well educated, young English woman saw life in Hungary in general. Period novels don't describe life in such detail since the intended audience knew the background in general. It's very interesting on many levels, highly recommended!
