This book provides a concise resource for the history of this fishing village, from the pre-Norman Conquest to current day. My primary purpose for purchasing the book was geneaologic research. I discovered it to be very helpful in understanding who settled there and why. The book also includes an excellent explanation of the geology of Staithes and the coastal area. The authors are well informed about Staithes, and their book offers everyone access to their personal knowledge.
