4.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT BOOK ON A VERY SENSITIVE SUBJECT, 7 Jan 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Nature of Hell, The (Paperback)
This book deals very sensitively with the issue of hell covering all the different evangelical positions. It is a book comitted to unraveling what the bible teaches us about hell and discusses the differing interpretations of various passages commenting that, "much of the evangelical debate about hell turns on biblical semantics." It also looks at how the different positions have developed within church history and touches on the influence Greek philoshophy may have had on our biblical christian understanding.

This book also includes the practical and pastoral issues surrounding the hell debate rightly discerning that a debate on hell can never be a merely academic exercise. It is a very balanced and helpful book and I recommend it thoroughly...

5.0 out of 5 stars A helpful, well-balanced book on a thorny issue., 30 Dec 2000
By A Customer
Despite being quite short, this book looks in some detail at the way different schools of thought within the Christian church have responded to the issue of homosexuality. It looks sensitively at how to reflect God's love and His righteousness with respect to this issue in the modern world. It makes very useful reading for any Christian wondering how to respond to homosexuals - or for anyone who feels alienated by the church because of his or her sexuality.
