Product Description

Product Description

Even though The Pink Floyd Sound officially came into existence in London in the psychedelic '60s, several key members of the band had in fact moved there from Cambridge. This was the home town of Roger Waters, Syd Barrett and the man who would later replace him in the group, David Gilmour. Original Pink Floyd member Bob Klose was also a Cambridge lad, as was Storm Thorgerson, whose memorable album covers (designed first with Hipgnosis partner Po Powell and later by himself) did so much to define the band's image. This illustrated guide, which is based on interviews with some of these individuals and their contemporaries, offers an affectionate portrait of the town of their youth and provides an insight into the birth of one of the most successful rock groups of all time.

Upon buying this item i thought it was a bit pricey for the amount of pages .How wrong could i have been .This book is an absolute gem.Being a floyd fan for over 20 years i have read numerous books but none really on Cambridge. 51 locations are featured all with photos .Among them include Grantchester meadows, St Margarets square(where syd barrett lived),"the cut" featured in the Division bell, the Ummagumma house ,Ely cathedral(featured in the Division bell ) and lots lots more .A must for any floyd fan
