5.0 out of 5 stars A paddlers' guide to Scottish rivers both famous and obscure, 1 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Far more comprehensive than anything that has gone before! From popular play spots to obscure ditches, this has it all!

Scotland is divided into regions with maps and a general description of each before moving on to give more detail on individual rivers.

The book has contributions from various paddlers who each cover rivers they know well. This means that the style varies slightly from river to river, some being more serious, others quirky and humourous. However all entries have information on grade, recommended water levels (also shown in a water level icon beside the text), access, egress and the main rapids. There are also icons to show the length of walk-in, potential for getting a hammering and a dagger for "proceed with caution" where there is little reliable info on some more outlandish rivers.

Also includes excellent pictures and a fun flip-the-corner cartoon effect to give moving pictures of paddlers in action!

Finally a the profits from sales of the book go to the Scottish Canoe Association Access Fund which campaigns to improve access for paddlers to Scottish Rivers.
