Every Watford Match Ever, 27 Jul 2001
By A Customer
As a Watford Supporter for 23 years (depsite being relocated to Chesterfield), I find that this is an invaluable resource to settle all questions and arguments regarding fixtures and results since the club was founded in 1881. Every league, cup and friendly match is covered as well as wartime matches. Included are team lineups and attendances, at least for peacetime competitive matches. Wartime games usually involved "borrowing" players not involved directly in the war or who were stationed nearby. You can also cross reference all time results against individual teams. What this book doesn't provide is reports of the matches (this would take an enormous resource and it is doubtful whether reports could be found of all matches, particularly the earlier ones. Season highlights are however included. This is a companion volume to Trefor Jones' earlier book "The Watford Football Club Illustrated Who's Who" which details all the players who have played for the club. It is a book of statistics for dipping into and, in itself, provides a fascinating glimpse of how the clubs fortunes have changed over the years. I would say that this book is essential for all Watford fans and football statistics enthusiasts but of no interest whatsoever to anyone else.
