Nic Portway's beautifully written and published book on the 30-98 Vauxhall is the definitive volume on this rare and under-rated British car. He is an expert on the subject , reflected in the extent and detail of the text. The photos are superb , large and numerous. He deals with the genesis, prototypes, production and competition history of this fast early 1920's car in succinct chapters, which are not merely dry technical detail, but informative and attention-holding. The 30-98 is a car which deserves equal recognition to the 4 1/2 litre Bentley : it is just as fast , better looking and lighter.Production of 30-98s finished before Bentley introduced the 41/2 L , hence its performance is even more remarkable. This book goes some way to redressing the balance. I bought this book in 1996 and have read it from cover to cover , loving its rich text and beautifully printed large photographs. I have re-read it many times since, and it never fails to impress. I would recommend it to anyone interested in Vintage Vauhalls.
