4.0 out of 5 stars The book was so good, we did the walk!, 26 April 2004
By Russell Cradduck (Nantwich, Cheshire) - See all my reviews
Great value for money. You not only get a quite stunning collection ofphotographs coupled with detailed descriptions of the walk, you also gethalf-day summaries of the walk, all of which encouraged the brothersCradduck to attempt (and complete) the walk in May 2003. It was such anenjoyable trip that we are returning in May 2004 to walk the island fromnorth to south.
The book beautifully captures the landscapes of Skye through all fourseasons and also gives you some background to the island's history. Agreat read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Photographic inspiration, 14 Sep 2009
By Mgt P (Stirling, Scotland) - See all my reviews
One can't fail to be inspired by the quality of the photos in this book. They don't pull any punches but capture the Isle of Skye at its moody best. The text gives sufficient information to enable walkers of reasonable experience and skill to achieve this wild, varied route, without leading them to believe it's a stroll in the park. This is another book out of the David Paterson mould that may encourage many to follow in his footsteps, hopefully gaining a better understanding of the 'misty isle' as they meet the challenge. The Glens of Silence: The Landscapes of the Scottish Clearances

4.0 out of 5 stars Good description of the island and amazing photography
The first thing that strikes you about 'The Long walk' is the quality of the photographs of the island, reproduced on heavy quality glossy paper throughout the book. Read more
