4.0 out of 5 stars Seoi-nage in its full, 11 May 2004
By A Customer
The book is, overall, very good. It starts with morote-seoi-nage and finish with its sister technique, the ippon-seoi-nage. For each, a long and fully of details description is given and its main variations are presented - in general they are trivial but there is one or two in each section that is less known. Then there are two chapters on combinations for each technique: those that are used in order to prepare the technique and those that can be set up if the technique fails. Those presented for ippon-seoi-nage are better and in a larger number than those for the morote, but there could be more (at least I used others techniques that aren't in this book). The main problem that I found in this book is the Counter section: the morote counter section is garbage (it seems that it isn't written by the two autors, but added à posteriori). One way to justify this is that the morote is a very dificult technique to counter...
But, as I said before, it is a very good book - if seoi-nage is your tokui-waza then you should have this book, if it's not, then you should save your money since in any book like the Kodokan Judo or Best Judo you can get what you want.
