5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best-researched books I've ever read!, 31 Mar 2003

The Setmakers has to be one of the best researched books I have ever read. The content is clear, well illustrated and jam-packed with facts, folklore and many high-quality illustrations ranging from the early 1920s to when the book was published. A lot of research work and material has gone into the composition of this book, and it comes highly recommended to anyone who has an interest in the history of radio & television receiver design and production, ex. radio & television engineers or those merely looking for a wallow in nostalgia.

Being an ex. TV engineer, I had the privilege to meet one of the main contributors to the book... Gerry Wells, the proprietor of the British Vintage Wireless Museum who is mentioned in the acknowledgements. I spent a truly amazing and enjoyable afternoon with him that I shall never forget. I should point out that the Museum is NOT open to the public.
