This GCSE investigation would be a good start for anyone interested in the Vietnam war, but not for those who already have an advanced understanding. The book is not only very reasonably priced but as it is mostly for educational purposes it is (refreshingly) not biased. It touches on how the war commenced, and how it was carried out. It is a bit fragmented at times, often shifting from one period to another, but this is a small price to pay for the depth of the writing. It comes with interesting photographs, again avoiding emotion in preference of truth, which almost capture the atmosphere of the region. As said earlier on, this would be a perfect start for anyone who wishes to start reading up on the war, or indeed someone who is studying it (especially with the book list at the end), but for anyone wanting to start much further beneath the surface this small booklet will not be adequate.
