5.0 out of 5 stars A definitve read by someone who really was there, 30 Jun 1999
By A Customer
Kenneth Cross not only gives the reader the feeling of what it must have been like to be a young pilot during WW2 but also gives an unique insight into the planes of the time. His experience of flying a captured Messerschmidt and comparing it's performance with a Spitfire is in itself a good enough reason to purchase the book. His account of the murder of his younger brother Ian, one of the fifty shot in The Great Escape, and his attendance at the Nurenburg Trials are unforgettably poignant
