5.0 out of 5 stars A perfect guide to the world beneath Londoner's feet, 23 May 2002
By A Customer
Trench and Hillman's London Under London used to be the only book on the world below the streets of London. But that had errors and is now very out of date: for example the construction of the Jubilee Line extension is a recnt developemnt not included in their book.

Antony Clayton's book is arranged thematically (rivers, rail, secret tunnels, etc.) and is immensely readable and eye opening. London is so much more than what you can see on the surface. If you want to get a complete picture of London, buy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating glimpse into the London beneath our feet., 8 Dec 2000
This is a well-researched and extremely readable work which details the "hidden" London beneath our feet. The author obviously has a great gift for imparting knowledge in an accessible and illuminating way.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very readable history of London's underside, 12 Jun 2004
By A Customer
This is a very readable book on all that happens under London's streets and buildings. In many ways an up-to-date version of 'London under London', but not quite so detailed and easier to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Read
I found Subterranean City a fascinating and enjoyable read. It is nicely illustrated, although would be better with some good maps of the tunnel networks and locations described... Read more
