While the Amazon Catalog shows this book as published in 1998, the frontis piece indicates First Published in 1991 with a Second Edition dated 1997 and re-printed in 1998. Covering a technoloy that is as fast-growing as the Computing and Information Technology, the title of this book, it is indeed a challenge to stay current. The dictionary shows this lag in currency. Entries for SDRAM, AGP, Wavetable, MMX (multimedia), DSL, Cookies, to name just few are not listed. The 10,000 count of entries is however adequate for the casual user. Each entry is explained in plain English, followed by the German equivalent. Part Two is a listing of 12,000 German keywords, side by side with the English equivalent. Sprinkled throughout Part One, are 'Comment' and 'Quote' boxes. Most of these do not add to the understanding of key words, and some are actually quite regional (refering to long-gone or distant companies). A new edition would be well served to re-use this space with needed new words. Samples of such comments/quotes. Under listing 'AC' one finds: "the mains electricity supply uses alternating current to minimize transmission power loss" (not quite correct). Quote next to entry "on-board": the electronic page is converted to a printer-readable video image by the on-boad raster image processor". And one more example of a quote: "Mannesman Tally has launched the T900S, a five page-a-minute printer designed to handle 3000 pages per month"
