This guide to Antalya and the Eastern Lycia region of Turkey is one of a series which is designed to take visitors away from the tourist centres and out into the countryside, exploring by private and public transport or on foot. Each book is divided into three sections - car tours (with a full-colour touring map), picnicking suggestions and walks for all ages and abilities. Each book includes up to date timetables for public transport. The authors also wrote "Landscapes of Samos" which is part of this same series.

What a fantastic little book! Anybody considering a visit to the Antalya region should definitely consider taking this little gem with them.
The authors describe in great detail exactly what there is to see beyond the beach (and give spot- on advice as to how to get there).
I initially tackled one of the suggested walking tours. Usually I'm pretty useless at following directions but with this book I just couldn't go wrong.
Inspired by my walking experience I plucked up the courage to follow one of the car tours in the book on a rented bicycle. Again, I couldn't find fault with the directions and descriptions provided. It was almost as if Mr and Mrs Anderson were at my side providing me with the benefit of their prior experience.
To summarise, armed with this book I managed to see much more of the area and to get much more out of my holiday than I would have done otherwise. Whilst taking in the major sites, the Andersons also take you off the beaten track. I'll definitely be tackling more of the book's suggested itineries next time I visit the area.

This guide book combines walking guide with a driving guide althought the driving in Turkey can be quite an eye opener we opted just to walk in the area of Turgutreis the routes are very good as are the instructions for getting to them the fold out maps giving a good overview of the area, you get to see sights and people not usually seen by holiday makers sticking to resort and main roads. All the routes are easy to follow this is probably the only book you will find with local walking routes for the area. Be aware that when walking in June - August it is very hot and shade is not always available the book gives good advice as to equipment and things to take and the walks are very enjoyable

Although the book was very interesting, I was looking for a general guide but this book was walks and car journeys.
