5.0 out of 5 stars A terrific read for enthusiasts of a bygone age, 6 Mar 2003

This book is a concise and very easily read review of all the stations that have shut on the London Underground. Many closures are quite well known, but the book also looks at the stations which have been relocated and re-designed. I was surprised to learn that there are so many of these. The book explores each line seperately and discusses each station usually with interesting pictures. I would definately recommend this as a valuable insight into London's transport heritage

4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable & informative read for Underground enthusiasts, 10 Jul 2001
By Gerald E Newns (Ealing, London United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I found the book informative, well laid out & well researched.

It is interesting having seen some of the older stations dissapear to know something of their history and to have thought at different time "I wonder why there isnt a station here?" only to find there was.

The book includes a large & varied set of photographs, prints and early maps of the Underground.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too short, 18 Oct 2004
That's the only complaint.
This little book is filled with pictures and anecdotes. It's an interesting, enjoyable read. You'll find yourself looking for ghost stations, trying to catch a glimpse of derelict premises as the train "flies" past them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly absorbing
I really enjoyed this stroll through London's abandoned stations. Having heard of some, it was good to know more - when they opened, why they closed and all with pictures. Read more
