Taking into account the subject matter, it is perhaps wrong to call this book brilliant. It is a sad reflection upon the state of the environment throughout the world that this book exists at all. By their very nature, there will always be a number of species of all creatures that will be in danger of extinction - but the sheer extent of their number, variety and location is a worrying, if
