4.0 out of 5 stars Hill sheep-farming made real in a sensitively written diary., 16 Aug 2000
This is an evocative account of the hardships and wonders of hill-farming in Scotland's harshest environment. The author captures the reader's attention from the beginning and it is with regret that you set the book down at the end. I wish there was more.

3.0 out of 5 stars complementary nature photography and verse, 22 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Mr Cambridges account of sectarianism in his childhood schooling brought back memories of similiar experiences of my own boyhood traumas, unlike Mr Cambridge I have not been able to exorcise these ghosts. However, this is only a small part of this offering. Mostly we have still life nature photography in the microcosmic, excellently and pains takingly arranged by the experts eye. This is given life by poetic observation and rearrangement .... Having the self assurance and audacity to write his biography after having published only one slender book of poems Mr Cambrige is certainly one to watch for the future. We wish him luck.
