Product Description

Product Description

This work tells the story of explorations and ascents in the Scottish Highlands in the days before mountaineering became a popular sport - when Jacobites, bandits, poachers and illicit distillers traditionally used the mountains as sanctuary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible piece of work, 29 Jun 1999
By A Customer
Thoroughly well researched. Gives a fascinating insight not only to the first individuals thought to have climbed over two thirds of the Munros in Scotland, but a unique review of their social/geographical environment and glimpses of their personal life. A unique and astounding piece of research.
