1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, 9 Mar 2002
By A Customer
I have the revised edition (1997), from Amazon, but not listed at the time of writing this review. The basic premis, that different breeds have differernt nutritional requirements seemed sensible. There are fundamental flaws in the basic nutrition information. For example, the author describes fats as a source of carbohydrate, apparently muddling this term with calorie. The breed specific dietary recommendations are based on the geographic origins of the breed, and the likely sources of food in that area. For example, the Airedale is from Yorkshire, and so should be fed potato, beef, wheat and oats. The Chinese Crested should be fed fish and rice, but not high carbohydrate foods. The author seems to have missed the fact that rice is 85% carbohydrate, falling to around 30% as it ansorbs water on cooking.
