I am studying Furniture Restoration at college and this book was in the library. An excellent book even for a beginner, well worth the money. The book starts with the History of Marquetry from the 14th Century to the modern day with many photographs, drawings and explanations. The book covers materials used in marquetry such as tortoiseshell, horn, mother of pearl, bone, ivory, metals, plastic, straw, stone etc. There are precise instructions on dyeing veneer, what veneer to use for dyeing and how to dry it.
