Have been looking for 3 years in UK bookshops, for information on carrousel horses for an art project and found this one, with its' stunning pictures to be ideal. Very clear photos of the different types of carved horses (and other animals) and informative text on the history. Wish there had been more info on British and European carrousels, but otherwise a mine of information

This is a truly lovely book. I am not by any means a specialist in carousel art, but just browsing through these wonderful carvings is a feast for the eye. I have taken it out of the library many times over the years for the marvellous designs and when I saw it still in print in Amazon I couldn't resist.

From glorious photographs to extensive history on carousel carvers, this book is the one. With less than 200 antique carousels left in the US, this book has helped spur preservation efforts across the country. If you buy only one book on carousel art, this is the one.
