Possibly the most life affirming reading experience I've ever had. Astounding collection of rants, incendiary tracts, wild theories, entertaining heresies and crackpot propaganda from Hakim Bey, the Sheikh of Imaginary Shi'ite Fanatics. Bey's writing is imaginative, visionary, down to earth, seductive, beguiling, fiery, inspirational, hallucinatory and willfully anarchic. Sparkling with the joyful possibilities of life, but never arrogant or preachy. This book would rather you ran away with it to a hidden desert enclave and grew your own religion. The book is composed of a collection of pieces that have already appeared in marginal zines and samizdat publications, which are, for the most part, extremely hard for UK readers to get hold of. Since the pieces all share a similar flavour, it is good to see them served up on the same plate, as it were, and available in a local restaurant. Not for every ones taste, to be sure, but for those who dare, it holds a cornucopia of insurrectionary delights.
