1.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth The Money, 17 Sep 2003

I found this book very dissapointing. In short, the information
is limited and what there is is confusing. The book contains only
100 pages and 60 of those are photos without any details. I wouldn't mind if the photo's were good and printed well but they are not. The only real use for this book is to inspire you to do better!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not art by a long shot, 21 Mar 2001
This is quite a poor step by step guide for inexperienced photographers who are curious about the black art of infrared photography. The initial "how to" chapters are very short and lacking in any depth of information. The author even feels the need to explain very basic darkroom terms such as "dodging" and " burning in". The majority of the book is a demonstation of Jo Paduano's photography which is even more basic than his knowledge of the process. Sorry but this really doesn't show any claim to "art". Kitch maybe. There is some usefull information about some Infrared films at the start of the book (Boy is Paduano biased towards Kodak!) but there are many better books on the subject and the information obtained could be gleaned from any one of a dozen general photography or darkroom books.

5.0 out of 5 stars a how-to book that inspires, 24 Nov 1998
By A Customer
A great book for any photographer interested in learning about infrared photography. Unlike many books written on specialized areas of photography that are difficult to comprehend, this book is easy to understand and does not confuse the reader with highly technical information. Instead, The Art of Infrared Photography sets forth in a clear, concise, detailed text, exactly how to adapt this wonderful film to your individual style of shooting. The author guides you step by step with true understanding of the medium, as if you were taking a photo course given by an inspired instructor. The added bonus of a breathtaking portfolio of images by the author will motivate anyone to grab their camera, load up with infrared film and rush out to create a new world of high contrast, dream-like images. Without a doubt the best book on infrared photography on the market.
