Quailty Stuff...Many a good hour lost reading this book..., 4 April 2001
By A Customer
I first stumbled across the Justice League ( & J.L International) about 10 years ago as a back up strip in a monthly Batman comic that was published at the time.I absolutely loved the style of Giffen and the other writers, very witty, often quite dry but never dull. They always kept the pace of a story moving at just the right speed and it was a pleasure to turn the page, and occasionally sneak back to re-read. My main problem was that I picked up the stories some way in and had no real frame of reference...this is where this book comes in. It starts at the beginning and explains how the team came together ( or were they manipulated by Maxwell Lord ), and some of their earlier adventures. The thing that I most enjoyed about the whole series was in the way our heroes were portrayed. They are shown to be more human, with human attitudes and axes to grind, each character vying for his or her position with in the Justice League. All of which led to some often-great gags and mini joke stories than often ran across several issues. If you're a fan of Justice League and enjoy your comics a little bit different then I strongly recommend that you buy this book ( and any other JSL books that you come across ). My only complaint... I've lost my copy but I will buy another. Happy reading. Dr. Groove.
