As a first time buyer of a boat, I was desperately looking for some title that would teach me all about what I'd just bought. It's in and outs, etc. For example, I need to know how to be able to plug in a simple kettle into a socket. None of these 'familiar sockets' existed on the boat. So I came to Amazon to find a book to give me a simple guide to maintenance/instructions on the 'electrics' of boats. This book purported to tell you this - amongst other things I really needed to know. Trust me, it doesn't. It didn't even mention that you need a 'converter' in order for your electrical appliances to work in the first place! Very sad. Nor does it tell you anything a boat owner actually needs to know. It wallows in knowledge that even a layman knows WITHOUT having to pay and read it first. Also, the diagrams and explanations are not only confusing, but are also far too complicated and need a lot of knowledge of the area to be useful (I.e. you need to be an electrician to understand the electrics. A plumber to understand the plumbing. Etc). Keep looking and don't waste your money on this book. I've since bought another book here and it DID show me what I needed to know - and a whole lot of other things too. In a nutshell, I had to buy another book to now have a kettle that works - and a coffee whenever I need it, of course :)
