4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for sawing/drying/do-it-yourself kilning., 28 Feb 1999
By A Customer
Book is a compilation of articles on growing timber, sawing methods using a variety of mill types as well as how to stack and air dry lumber. It also includes a detailed section on kiln construction for the hobbiest. Different types of kiln plans are included including solar, and dehumidification types. Overall, an inexpensive resource with a lot of usefull information for the serious wood hobbiest that harvests, saws and drys their own lumber.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have, 19 Nov 2003
As a young woodturner and just starting out this was an incredibly useful book. I have to fund all my work and so any home grown timbers I tried to dry log. 90% failed. After reading this I understood the wood more and have now just started reeping the rewards. It really does help appreciate wood so much more and helps get the most out of its diversity.
