5.0 out of 5 stars Clear, Fresh, Exciting, Easy to read and bang on the button, 28 Sep 2000
The book presents mixing for in a digestable way. Lost by EQ? Can't describe what you are trying to achieve? Know words like 'fat' and 'sparkle' but don't understand where to start adjusting these things. Not too sure how to place instruments in the mix? No?

Well this book is probably just right for you. I was in that situation and it has answered a whole heap of questions and solved many problems I had in trying to sort out a mix. Whilst I am mixing heavy metal oriented music this book covers it all, from classical to hip-hop, pop and dance to alternative. Its all here and you certainly will feel that the slightly high price tag is worth it by the time you are halfway through...not the fattest book on the subject - thankfully! It gets the point across and loads and loads of great graphics help make things easy to understand...I cannot say enough about this book...get it! It will do much more good for your mixes than you can imagine....and Im a complete novice at mixing...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Art Of Mixing, 17 Nov 2003
By A Customer
It's certainly enough to get you started for the first few months without having to spend hours trawling through esoteric tomes of technical know-how.

As a complete beginner to mixing, it went into enough detail for me to understand the basics (and more) of the subtle use of EQ, panning, sound placement, effects etc so that I could get on with using the knowledge I got from it to do what I wanted to do which was making music, instead of being overly worried by the mixing process.

It's a book I intend to re-visit and re-read.

5.0 out of 5 stars VISUALS FOR THE EARS, 26 Aug 1999
By A Customer
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get the most out of recording and mixing. After reading the book and putting the words and pictures into practise I could immediately see the difference in my recordings. The whole text is easily absorbed and unlike many instruction books does not need to be constantly referred to as the writer gets the message across in a clear and exciting way. Anyone who wants to improve their understanding of the world of musical sounds should make this a "MUST READ BOOK"
