5.0 out of 5 stars A bookshelf must - you'll forever be dipping into this text, 13 Oct 2001
By A Customer
The Merck manual is a bookshelf must for all medical or biomedical science students, and for all members of the healthcare team.

A text which at first glance appears limited purely by its lack of size, do not be fooled. The pages are extremely thin and there are nearly 3000 of them, packed with information in a well presented, accessible form.

Well worth its small cost, this world-famous text will act as a dictionary, textbook and study reference guide all in one, covering the simplest to the most uncommon of symptoms and illnesses.

An excellent investment which I have used in EVERY assignment including my dissertation so far in my Biomedical Science degree, of which I am in my final year. I can attribute a great number of my marks to this essential text.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best edition of the best medical reource available, 17 Mar 1999
By A Customer
I have purchased every edition of The Merck Manual starting with the 10th edition. They all have been the best medical information resource available at the time.

The new, 17th edition, has surpassed all past editions. The typeface has been improver (made larger), the layout of topics has been changed for the better and the writing style has been made more lay person reader friendly. In sum, the best has got even better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have reference, 17 Jan 1999
By A Customer
As a medical student, whose first exposure to the clinical subjects can be confusing and intimidating, you have a friend in the Merck Manual. The differential diagnoses and signs/symptoms of most disorders are laid out with the detail of textbooks, while cross-referencing many associated disorders. This is a good, concise alternative to other volumes of internal medicine texts.
