5.0 out of 5 stars Do not lend this book to anyone, 19 Sep 2000
By Jane123 (England) - See all my reviews
If you let anyone borrow this book it will be a very long time before you have it returned and you will miss it! This is not a book that you can lightly read, it is more of a handbook of horse answers. The book inspired me to work on the Parelli Levels system and once I started applying the practical side to my horses the book fitted into place. It shows how to inspire your horse to have confidence in you and trust that you are not the predator that he once thought you were. Read the book try out a few simple games and you will most probably be hooked on Natural Horse-Man-Ship.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reading, 15 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Owning what was termed an "unrideable horse" I plodded away for nearly a year gaining the trust and working with our Caity. Pat Parelli could have saved me much time had I discovered this book earlier. His philosophy is mine. This was what I was looking for. I discovered happily that I was not a "horsey person" - much relief. His teaching is natural and the book emphasises both the rider's and the horse's responsibilities. Tried and tested his methods - they really work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Important book for anyone that truely cares about horses, 22 Jul 1998
By A Customer
This book should be a required read for anyone who is interested in caring for horses to the best of their ability and look after their mind, as well as their body, whether they be horse owners, horse workers, equestrians, or just an occasional rider. A book full of 'true knowledge' which teaches what is required to gain 'the knack' or 'gift' with horses.

Parelli, who is very experienced and knowledgable in the theory and practice of horse training, psychology and behaviour, gives us an understanding of how horses think and learn, so that we can learn to be more sympathetic, learning to do things with the horse, not to the horse, so that the horse can become a willing, safe, happy partner and enjoy your company too.

Parelli stresses that since 99% of problems with horses are 'problem people' not 'problem horses' his book is really a people-training book. He has developed a step by step program that is easily followed, that enables anyone with a fair attitude and fee! ling towards the horse to acheive outstanding results with any horse.
