There are many books on Tantra, most them garbage that promote cheap sex. Dr Frawley is one of the 1st Westerners to study Ayurveda(Indias Medical system) and gives good explanation of how Tantra ties with it.

He gives the best explanation of 10 mahavidyas in any book Ive read.

He gives not only mythology, but also where the Godess lives in our body- like Kali is Pran, and lives in the heart where it regulates blood- thats why she is shown drinkning blood. Tara is the Human form of Om mantra when spoken- she is called Bhav tarini as the Om mantra takes us across the World. Similaraly, Baglamukhi is the energy that causes our Pran(breath) to stop when we go into samadhi- she gives tremendous power, but one that can destroy us. Bhairvi is like Durga- she rides Lion- sign of energy- that burns up our sins(via fire of Tejas).

He also debunks theory that Tantra is different from Vedas. By studying Ayurveda(Medicine of Vedas), you find that the Vedas say the same thing, but in hidden language.

So Tejas(fire) is Kunadalini, Ojas is Shiv(or Amrit) and Pran is their meeting point. The Vedas say when Tejas(Kundalini) rises, it goes to head and melts the Ojas, that gives Soma or the nectar of immortality. Thats why Vedas worship fire- they are actually worshipping Kundalini.

Superb! Well recommneded. I had read many books on Tantra before, but none that gives such good and logical explanation. My only complaint is that it is too short.
