4.0 out of 5 stars Reviewer from Brisbane, 14 Jul 2006
By Patrick Lindley (Brisbane, Australia) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a very well-researched book which tries, and succeeds, to convey the spirit of the railway. I was pleased to see that the author had concentrated just as much effort on the personnel of the railway as on the hardware and architecture which contributes to the ambience of the book. Some of the photographs are lacking in contrast and would benefit from a photo-enhancement programme, although in 1990 there probably was no such thing. Maybe in the next edition! On a personal note, I was sorry to see that there was no mention of my home village,Sprotborough on the Denaby branch. Oh well, I can always turn to C.Tony Goode's books for my dose of nostalgia.
