This standard English language reference on Latvian map stamps has many errors, mostly small. It misspells many cancels [LATWIJA as LETWIJA; JELGAWA as JEGLAWA; AIZPUTE as ALZPUTE]; it illustrates the Jelgava provisional cancel with a Liepajâ straight-line cancel; it fails to list most of the uncommon cancels. It reports a tête-bêche variety which does not exist. It reports that imperforate stamps resulted from a perforator breakdown, for which there is no known evidence. It has a fine summary of which German WWI maps were used to print the first Latvian stamps. It has an excellent illustrated list of plate flaws. And it remains the best English language reference on a fascinating piece of philately.
