5.0 out of 5 stars an accurate account of life as a casual, 10 Mar 2004
By A Customer
jay allen tells it exactly as it is in this engrossing account of organised violence. One point that he stresses is that it is never the intention of a casual to seriously harm a fellow hoolifan but more to try and stick one on as many of the opposition as possible rather than focus on one person.
A minor grumble is that he says that no innocent individual ever gets hurt. This is simply not true, as an x member of the villa youth i remember when the chelsea headhunters claimed to have taken the holte end, this is rubbish they made sure they were surrounded by scarfers and shirters rather than casuals and by the time that the villa youth got to em they were running!!!!
jay also takes this biased stance although having never been to a game north of the border i cannot dispute whether or not the ASC were the top boys - but this is a totally engrossing read and cannot be recommended strongly enough.
