This book is "crunchy" - no waffle, no padding, - just simple, clear and to-the-point advice. It's a few years since I was last on an expedition and it was nice not having to wade through huge amounts of tedious text to get up to speed. Well illustrated and nicely laid out, with words of wisdom from experienced mountaineers liberally scattered throughout. I think it would be a great 'bible' for a group of friends heading off on their first mountaineering expedition.
