Polwarth, in the heart of Berwickshire, is a small parish inseparably entwined with Marchmont and the Humes. The marriage of Margaret Sinclair of Polwarth to Patrick Hume of Wedderburn carried the lands into the Hume family in the late fifteenth century.This affectionate account provides the geographical setting, background and history of the family, with extensive anecdotes, a pedigree and appendices. First published in 1894, and dedicated by Margaret Warrender to her grandfather, Sir Hugh Hume Campbell of Marchmont.
