As co-authors of the Yachtmaster and Dayskipper test papers, Chris Slade and Sara Hopkinson have compiled an invaluable selection of practice exercises with answers.

All the vital aspects of seamanship are included; from estimated positions and tide tables to meteorology and maydays. Using full colour illustrations, the book follows the newly revised Yachtmaster syllabus and includes recent developments in electronic chart plotting and GPS.

Starting off with relatively simple questions, ideal for those new to boating, while the later exercises provide a useful challenge for the more experienced. Everything you need to help you answer the questions can be found within the book, including two RYA training charts.

The exercises are excellent for either preparation prior to going on a RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Theory course or for revision after the course. Two practice charts and all necessary almanac information are included. The exercises start off being easy and gradually become more difficult as you progress. Anyone working through this book should have thorough knowledge of the theory necessary to safely navigate at sea and should have no trouble passing the Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Theory Course.

It is 9 years since I did my Yachtmaster Coastal Theory and this is perfect for testing my state of revision and actively revising by going through the exercises.
