2.0 out of 5 stars Must Disagree!, 6 Feb 1999
By A Customer
With a number of glowing recommendations already written about this book I hesitate to express my disappointment. This is a less than memorable effort. The writing style is wordy and covers no new ground. For a beginner this book should be useful but no more. The photos have sparse details as to technique and technical information.

For a far better source try Campbell's Backpackers's Handbook. That book will challenge and inspire photographers of all level of ability.

Each to his own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and thorough review of outdoor photography basics., 26 Dec 1996
By A Customer
A field guide offering a thorough review of outdoor photography in basic terms, making it a convenient "hands on" resource for the novice and experienced alike. Written in language that is clear and concise, covering all aspects of topics such as composition, lighting, exposure and the basic elements of working effectively with the camera. Nothing is left out. Concepts and technical material are clearly illustrated with corresponding tables, color plates and figures. Definitely a must for the serious photographer.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE for the outdoor photographer, 18 April 1997
By A Customer
Hands down, the best guide to outdoor photography. Small "field guide" size makes it handy to take along with you. Straight forward text leads you through all aspects of outdoor photography with gorgeous examples of Wolfe's award-winning photography. Simply BRILLIANT!!!!!
