Having recently bought a GPS for hill walking in the UK I was looking for a book which would fill in the gaps left by the owners guide. This is certainly it. Despite being US in origin, this book gives good down to earth advice on how to use GPS in a number of different circumstances. It is written with all types of GPS in mind but is particularly relevant to Magellan and Garmin units as they are frequently used in the diagrams.

A very worthwhile buy for anyone who has or intends to buy a GPS.

This book looks at the use of GPS. Unfortunatly, it does not either discuss or use UK Ordnance survey mapping. The book is of very limited practical use to people wishing to use GPS in the Welsh mountains in conjunction with UK mapping. As a result I returned my book to Amazon for a refund.

This book should be compulsory reading for anybody with a GPS unit. This book not only teaches you how to use a GPS with UK Ordnance Survey maps, but goes way beyond - with detailed explanations of how to navigate anywhere in the world using a receiver. Crucially, it explains the different map grids (Ordnance Survey, Latitude and Longitude) as well as map datum and how these relate to GPS navigation. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
