4.0 out of 5 stars Getting you Thinking, 18 Oct 2003
By Budge Burgess (Kilmarnock, Scotland) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)
Smith offers an interesting book, packed with puzzles and problems and games to stimulate your mind and teach you to start thinking. Writers need to develop a creative imagination, need to come up with ideas. Can you teach yourself to do this? Probably. Sometimes alcohol works. Smith doesn't suggest that route, but he does offer a wide range of stimuli which should get your brain ticking a bit faster.

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting yet irritating, 7 April 2009
By R. Johnson "Reader" - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this book on a recommendation from a suspense writing course I was enrolled in. While the author offers many interesting ways to stimulate your creativity, he also offers loads of puzzles that compel you to go to the end of the book for the solutions. He also suggests jumping forward to chapters to read certain passages. I found this simply too distracting to stay with the book and put it aside.
