Thomas Aquinas' work is one of the greatest works of theology the world has seen. In this condensed version of the gigantic edifice one gets to sample some of its singular beauty. Above all, Aquinas was a beautiful thinker and reading his work can be like admiring the architecture of a gothic cathedral and listening to the the complex harmony of a Palestrina Mass.

Kreeft has performed a great service here. Thomas Aquinas can be a daunting thinker to tackle. But the reader need not be afraid here. Reading this version, I have never found him more understandable and coherent.
Kreeft has given essential passages and put his own footnotes to assist the student in grappling with the text.

I read a bit of this book every day and I am always filled with new insights or given something to think about. Thomas Aquinas is always refreshing. If you are looking at a basic text to get to grips with I would say this is the one to choose. Other 'selected' extracts from the works of Aquinas that I have looked at are not as good becuase they do not have the overall coherence that this one has.

I am filled with gratitude to Professor Kreeft.
