This book is definately filled with many things about cats but I found most of the things to be common sense and common knowledge and not as scientific as I thought it would be. Some of the information also seems to be no more than the authors own opinions about cats. For a person who has never owned a cat before, or a person who has bought a cat for the first time in their life, maybe this book might be useful. But if you've had more than one cat as a pet, this book is quite boring and a little disappointing.

I read many cat books as i adore cats, but found this book to be about cats as 'pets' and not as members of the family as alot of cat owners feel. I feel the writers have a broad knowledge of 'pets' but aren't specialised enough to write a whole book on cats. The book is obviously American - referring to many US products (unobtainable here) and the chapter on de-clawing (it should not be done, and left at that) was too distressing for my liking.
