3.0 out of 5 stars Deliberately Dating Online, 15 Aug 2002
This book was written primarily for those who are contemplating or actually dating online, using online dating services. While not strictly relevant in my own case, I did find the book to be an interesting read.

Most of the book reads like any other self-help manual on relationships and contains the same advice - if going to meet someone, always tell others where you'll be and when you'll be back, for example. The author does treat online romances with some degree of seriousness which makes a change from those authors who don't think that an internet relationship can ever make the transition to real life.

For someone about to intentionally dive into the realm of internet relationships this book would be a godsend. It was not what I expected at all but I'm glad I read it anyway.

2.0 out of 5 stars Proceed with caution..., 16 Sep 2007
By Chantal Liddell (Wolverhampton) - See all my reviews
I was becoming increasingly exasperated with the shortage of decent men in Wolverhampton (although funnily enough, there seems to be no end to the supply of short men!) and it was with a deep regret that I found myself buying this book. There are numerous dating websites for people to try, but trust me, after about three months of dates with rather uninteresting, unattractive men, the worst one was when I agreed to meet "Fabrizio" from truedate.com, who described himself as a tall, handsome architect from Birmingham. After exchanging a few messages, we agreed to meet in a classy bar just off Broad Street for a few drinks. Anyway, I spent a lot of time psyching myself up for the big night as I was convinced that he was "the one!" Imagine how mortified I was then, when I turned up and realised that it was not "Fabrizio" waiting for me in the bar, but my landlord Mr Hussain! I sat there for all of five painful minutes before making excuses that the dog had been sick at home...Well, I know I won't ever be ringing him up to come round and trim the hedge again after that! Stick to the real world girls, it's a lot safer...
