I completed 5 of the projects in the book. Patterns relatively easy to follow and projects vary from simple to very complicated. Works were gorgeous on completion. I found one or two minor typos in the thread coding.

I love William Morris's wall papers and the front cover design clearly is derived from a (wall paper or curtain) pattern like the ones I love so much. The inside of the book was disappointing for me because the focus is more on other work by William Morris, like the Medieval looking bird tapestries and the heavy gothic letters from the Kelmscott Press. Other patterns, like the ones for a tea pot cosy and glass cases are inspired by work from Morris, but have been simplified greatly. If you are happy with just the details, seperated from the wonderful coiling, leavy designs that they are derived from, this may not be a problem to you, but I had got the wrong idea from the lovely swirling pattern from the front cover. The content of this book is a lot more traditional cross stitch than I expected.

There are some very original designs in this book however, among them a picture of the Brer Rabbit underneath lovely oakleaves and most designs in this book are stitched on a darker, colloured background, which is pretty and inpiring in itself. I think you could say the book gives a good overall impression of Morris's work. However, I maintain to be a fan of his wall papers most of all...

I haven't tried any of the designs yet, but they look very nice. Much classier than your typical bunnies-and-kitties cross stitch book.
