1.0 out of 5 stars Appalling drivel, 27 Dec 2007
What a massive disappointment. With such a rich (Jewish) comedic treasure trove, the author has managed to produce the most boring and unfunny book I have ever seen in a long time. Written my a Jew who married out..she sticks two fingers up at Judaism and then thinks she's qualified to write about it.

Chucked my copy in the bin, which is better than the tome deserved.

4.0 out of 5 stars hilarious, 20 Aug 2009
By Daniel Lietzmann (Stuttgart, Germany) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this book almost accidentally, as I supposed it contained more about Yiddish than it actually does.

However, I was not disappointed from another point of view: the book funnily and pointedly describes the humour in such TV sitcoms like The Nanny, which are built on that kind of Jewish humour and - of course - stereotype.

I could not but read the whole book in one go and I could not stop laughing.

So if taken with a tongue-in-cheek attitude this book works really well.
