This book picks up on BZ's life from where the original Snow Queen book left off. We follow his struggle to come to terms with his past and future in a first-person, present tense narrative. The writing style on this book is very original, yet Ms. Vinge remains true to the character and the universe she presented to us on the previous book. If you plan to read Summer Queen, you should read this one first. Even thought some of the events taking place here are later retold from a different point of view, this is a great book.
